DIY Hair Serum

After pregnancy and nursing, the postpartum hair dullness and frizz hit my hair really hard. I have a very thick wavy to curly hair. But as all curly hair girls suffer from frizz, I had dullness, split ends and frizz all together.

I usually don’t use much of flat iron or blow dry so my hair is really not damaged due to excessive heat either. It was all hormonal, stress and tired body. Other reasons for dull hair could be hair coloring if not applied properly this also leads to weaker and breakage of hair.
Hair serum fills the follicular cracks and gives smoother and glossier appearance. It coats the hair strands with oil that offers protection and keeps hair frizz at bay.
Coconut Oil – Hydrates, gives shine, adds moisture and texture to frizzy hair
Castor Oil – Locks hair moisture, softens hair, adds lustre and shine and reduce frizz and also growth simulator
Avocado Oil – Deep conditions and strengthens hair, substitute for silicon
Emu Oil – Helps in hair growth, great moisturizer, help to stop hair fall
Lavender essential Oil – Helps in hair growth, treats stress and anxiety.
DIY Hair Serum:
  • Coconut Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Castor Oil – 1tbsp
  • Avocado Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Emu Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Lavender essential oil – 5-10 drops

Mix all the oils in a cup well and transfer into a bottle which has a dropper.

To Use: Take 2-3 drops from the dropper and spread in palm and apply from middle of the hair to ends. Never apply on roots or scalp. You can apply serum in wet hair right after shower or even dry hair. Since Castor oil and coconut oil tend to weigh down the hair, apply minimal quantity based on your hair length. After applying massage your scalp with your fingers as it increases blood circulation, stimulates hair growth and the lavender oil smell makes it more relaxing. Whenever convenient, apply a larger quantity of this serum and leave it on for 20-30 minutes before rinsing. This helps in hair growth and moisturizing.

So having tried this serum I have regained my shine and overall health of hair. Also do not forget food and exercise also play a very important role in growth of hairs and nails.
Hope you try it and let me know how you feel. Also feel free to tell me any other serums you have tried and that has worked for you.
