Hada Labo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion Review

Another K-beauty product review. I feel lucky to having tried one of the best products that I took a chance getting from Amazon! It’s a fantastic, relatively inexpensive hyaluronic acid and not a typical American lotion. Having used it for 3 months now and still left with half the bottle, this is the Japanese version of lotion, which is a toner in the US. So, you’ll need a real lotion after this “lotion”!

The consistency of this liquid is like a very slightly viscous liquid- a slightly gooey/sticky water but far more like water with that slight viscosity to it. It is scentless and contains 3 types of hyaluronic acids meant to penetrate and moisturize while also keeping a healthy level of moisture donated to the skin by the present atmosphere.

There’s no alcohol or mineral oil, no artificial colors, either. The full list of ingredients is as follows: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Disodium Succinate, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Succinic Acid, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate.

This inexpensive hyaluronic Acid is a very hydrating, clear and slightly viscous fluid that I personally use on a clean face after my DIY toner. I shake a small puddle into my palms (maybe the size of a quarter, but it spreads out very quickly) and pat and massage it into my face and neck and upper chest. It goes on clear and stays liquid and slippery for maybe 40-60 seconds, then starts to dry and sink in. It’s incredibly hydrating, and leaves my skin feeling flexible and springy. I’ve used two layers when I’ve been feeling particularly dry and you can layer it up without it accumulating on your skin at all. And it leaves your face in great condition for putting on further layers of lotions or serums or sunscreen – it doesn’t form a barrier to absorption.

However I have also tried this lotion like what thousands of Japanese and Asian women do with this product: Peel cotton pads into thin layers, saturate, then let sit on skin for 3-5 minutes. Like a sheet mask, and I could see a vast difference in plumping + hydration with this synergistic technique vs. just applying the product on your face. Also I have put this liquid in a small spray bottle and wet my regular sheet masks and let it sit for couple of minutes, and I love the double use of my sheet masks.

If you are looking for inexpensive way to add hyaluronic acid to your routine or need extra moisture to your skin then defiantly try this one. It will not disappoint you. I will be repurchasing this once I’m done with this bottle, and the only place I find it easily available is on Amazon! Happy hydrating!
