I’m planning to have a mini series of all the Vitamin C serums I have been trying and which ones are working the best. Since everyone is going gaga on Vit C, there are a bunch to choose from but by the time we have our trial and errors and we see results, there would be a brand new Vit C to try out. Let me know if you are interested in a mini series of my reviews. So lets start with one of the expensive Vitamin C serum I have tried and that is Jan Marini’s C-ESTA Serum.
To give a quick start Vitamin C is considered as an anti-aging superstar. When added to daily skincare routine, well-formulated products containing vitamin C provide a range of benefits, from helping to even out the skin tone, shielding skin from the visible impact of pollution, significantly improving hydration, and keeping the skin looking younger, longer!
I will talk about all the different types of Vitamin C available in the market in a different blog post but Ascorbyl Palmitate is one of the potent forms of Vitamin C available in the market and has proven to be more stable (when compared to pure ascorbic acid) and has better efficacy. Keep in mind that all antioxidants, including pure vitamin C and its more stable variations, remain vulnerable, and will break down if routinely exposed to air and light. That means to get the best possible results purchase only those that are packaged in opaque tubes, air-restrictive bottles, or pump containers so the ingredients remain stable after you start using the product, and try to use it up by 3 months if not the efficiency might be compromised. A vitamin C product in a jar is never a good purchase.
The ingredient list in Jan Marini’s C-ESTA Serum shows Ascorbyl Palmitate as explained above, Vitamin B5 that keeps skin healthy and has a moisturizing effect, helps in wound healing and repairing the skin. DMAE helps in toning and increases the appearance of firmness in skin also improves the appearance of skin elasticity and luminosity, helping to decrease the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic Acid as we see it in pretty much most of the creams these days that has the stunning capacity to attract and hold vast amounts of moisture for younger supple looking skin. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and helps to fight inflammation and also heals scars.
The website suggests using it twice daily but I use it in the morning routine only as in the evening routine I have other serums that do not go well with Vitamin C products. Also when combining vitamin E with vitamin C, it can act as a natural form of sun protection and makes more sense to use in the morning.
Smells a little like pinacolada and it does not bother me at all ! Also the serum is watery in texture and it is mentioned to shake the bottle for each use. The texture is a little gritty to touch but as it is applied it easily absorbs into the skin and I do not feel any grittyness. Anything applied on it is also absorbed and no peeling, which is lovely. This serum absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave my face feeling oily. My pores were less noticeable after using it for just a few weeks and my skin tone is much more even! The serum makes my skin glow! It’s light enough where I can layer other products without my skin feeling heavy.
I try to use up Vitamin C serums within 3 months, but currently I have 3 open bottles that I’m testing out, very bad idea. But since I use it liberly every morning, I can easily see a difference which serum is making a drastic difference. This serum has been used for 2 weeks straight every morning and I can see my skin glow and pores are less noticeable.
I feel this serum has a lot more to offer than just a Vitamin C, I feel the ingredients are best suited for more mature skin as it really rejuvenates the skin and reduces the fine lines (which I do not have) smoothes the skin and brings more glow with added moisture. So anyone looking for these properties then try this product, yes it is expensive but if this one serum can bring in more benefits than adding 3 extra steps/products to the routine then why not? Right?
Happy to have tried this product. I know I can suggest this product for my mom and will still look for affordable options in the market.
Hope this review helped! ‘Til next time!
